Anyone remember the classic show from the 80’s staring Bob Newhart – Newhart (1982-1990). Besides being known for the unexpected finale dream sequence, it was also known for the Larry/Daryl/Daryl bit.
This idea was one of those times when my memory – which is really good at connecting bits of information together, like if I was some bad-a$$ SQL programmer – connected two things which were very loosely related. And of course entirely bizarrely related.
After verifying that Gemini knew of the show Newhart, I asked it:
Can you create an illustration of Dick, his wife, and Larry, Darryl, and Darryl around the front desk of the inn. Make it a square image.

Not sure any of the characters look spot on except for Bob, but it’s good enough for my purposes. Then I asked Gemini if it knew the movie Braveheart, and when it did, I asked it to:
Can you update the image above, replacing Dick with William Wallace, his wife with Murron MacClannough, and Larry with King Edward. Remove existing speech bubble and add a new one where King Edward is saying “I’m Edward, and this is my brother Daryl, and my other brother Daryl”

Pretty much what I hoped for, except I tried – in vain – to get it to make the speech bubble come from the King, but alas, stubborn toddler AI didn’t want to bother.
Note: I’ve never seen the movie Braveheart. But alas, it’s lodged in the relational database between my ears.
