While in college (1992-1996), I took a science class where our final project was a bug collection. We had to find, capture, and kill specimens of various types of bugs then mount them on pins. This macabre assignment dovetailed with the spikey, bleached hairstyle I had at that time. I had visions of creating a photograph that had bugs pinned to the spikes on my hair.
My abilities at that time were limited and the tools to do something like that were outside of my realm of experience.
Fast forward to 2025 and the power of generative AI and lo and behold, I can finally create something like that with little or no issue.
I never was that punk. But in a world of AI, I can pretend.
And in a world of AI, we need to start worrying about a different kind of collection:
